Centre Staff Ms Susan Diamond – Foundation Director Susan Diamond has twenty five years experience in the fields of welfare and health, both in Western Australia and overseas, and has held positions in direct service delivery, policy and programme development, corporate strategic planning, management support and in training. She took up her current position of Director, Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families in July 2004 having been Principle Policy Officer in the Department for Community Development Legislation Unit for the 18 months immediately prior. Skills that Susan brings to the Centre include those of strategic planning, policy development, organizational process development and change management. As a doctoral candidate with the University of Western Australia, Discipline of Social Work and Social Policy, Susan is also an early career researcher. She is completing her PhD, looking at the role and responsibility of the State in relation to children and families ('The State as Parent'). Her areas of interests include: • Child rights and social justice
• Social policy development
• International social work practice
• Evidence-based practice, and
• Systemic/structural change
